RationalPlan is a project management software family developed by Stand By Soft, a software company established in 1997. The software is Java-based so it could constitute an alternative to Microsoft Project on both Windows and Unix systems (Mac/Linux/etc.)

In 2009, it won the 4-th place at TopTenREVIEWS

Initially launched for the management of separate projects, very soon emerged a new version that allowed project portfolio management as well as sharing resources across different projects, called RationalPlan Multi Project, the old product being renamed as RationalPlan Single Project.

A few moths later, a new piece of software - RationalPlan Project Viewer - joined the other two. The latter is free and, as the other two products, support Microsoft Project files (.mpp, .mpt, .xml) import and export.
