Project Management Training
ICF International creates project manager training programs designed to help our clients more efficiently manage large, risk-laden, or complex efforts, as well as improve performance on small- and mid-size projects. Drawing from our project management experience, we work closely with managers to build effective project management tools and techniques into the processes and procedures used by their organizations.SELECTED PROJECTS
Environmental Remediation Project Management Training for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), Office of Education and Training
ICF International helped DOE develop the following five-day courses: Project Planning; Cost and Schedule Estimation and Analysis; and Project Execution. All courses emphasized hands-on learning and were organized around a series of exercises for the application and practice of skills introduced. As part of the development effort, ICF International interviewed managers throughout DOE to learn about job requirements and to develop lesson objectives. ICF International delivered the course six times, earning consistently high marks on DOE evaluations.
Waste Management Training for the U.S. Department of Energy, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL)
ICF International designed, developed, and delivered a series of courses to assist LLNL in managing low-level radioactive wastes and Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) hazardous wastes. Courses were developed for such topics as land disposal restrictions, RCRA facility operations, hazardous waste generation and certification, and low-level radioactive waste overview for managers. ICF International delivered these courses more than 125 times to hundreds of LLNL staff.
Project Management Training for the U.S. Department of Energy, Office of Fossil Energy
ICF International developed a series of one-day seminars on project management for individuals with no experience or background on this subject. ICF International conducted an abbreviated needs assessment, translated technical concepts and jargon into plain language, and delivered the training. The curriculum covered such topics as project definition, planning, monitoring, and control.
Construction Management Training for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD)
ICF International developed a multi-day training program for community development professionals charged with overseeing construction activities associated with housing rehabilitation. The course presents basic construction tasks by highlighting the process and attributes of effective construction management and by discussing how HUD measures the success of construction programs. Codes and standards, work write-up, property inspections, cost estimating, contractor selection, and various regulatory requirements are among the topics covered.
